828m of tape in Genoa
Our workshop entitled “It doesn’t take much” at the recent New Generations festival was a great success. The participants took on the task with great enthusiasm and began immediately to find issues to highlight, design proposals to make, artworks to create with the white tape. The results to be found all over the centre of Genoa led to much local debate and garnered coverage in the local press, with some heated discussion on facebook about the interventions. This engagement with the public was one of the primary motivations behind the project – to get the participants out into the streets and actively engage with the city and its citizens. We learned the ability to draw 1:1 on location is a fantastic design and engagement tool and becomes a beta test of the city for locations and issues where design can intervene.
